Juried Art Show July & August in Parry Sound The Seguin Arts Council (just south of Parry Sound) is having a juried show, called Current Waves, this summer from July 7 till August 30 at the Museum on Tower Hill. It will we seen by thousands of people. In addition, our panel of judges will each choose their top three works of art from the show and critique them. We will video the winning art and the art experts critiquing them then put the video on YouTube for the world to see. If you are among the first 20 artists to apply - to"model" their art down the runway of Art Fashion Show 2012 - you and your art will also be videoed and the video uploaded to our channel on YouTube. WOOD'S END STUDIO Wood's End Studio is home to resident bird-carving artist, John de Lang, whose exquisitely realistic carvings of songbirds and other wildfowl have won top awards internationally and nationally. An 'Enchanted Forest' of miniature fairy tale settings complements the woodland studio property, set on ten acres just north of Severn Bridge. The studio hosts the annual 'Enchanted Forest Art Show' (now in its 5th year)in August. This is an intimate show of high calibre, featuring artwork in varying mediums. Call to Heritage Artisans and Artists The Marine Museum of the Great Lakes at Kingston is looking for artists, artisans and heritage crafts people to be part of our War of 1812 event: The Flight of the Royal George on June 29, 30 and July 1st (Fri-Sun). Our site is part of this HUGE event that will be focused in Bath, Ontario and extend to Kingston Harbour on the sites of the Marine Museum, RMC and Fort Henry. Friday is a demonstration day, Saturday is a visitors day and Sunday is the water battle that will include 7 tall ships, bateaux, cannons firing from our encampment, RMC and Fort Henry and (hopefully) a barrage of fire from the boats to the soldiers battlement at our site. (Much more detail will be sent out with a vendor's package). It is expected that this event will draw at least 30 thousand people to sites between Bath and Kingston. Call for Proposals for a new sculpture for the Haliburton Sculpture Forest Theme: Avian Fauna – Birds of the Haliburton Highlands Deadline for submissions February 29, 2012 Canadian artists are invited to submit proposals for a new sculpture for the Haliburton Sculpture Forest located in Glebe Park in the village of Haliburton, Ontario. The Haliburton Sculpture Forest is looking for a work of artistic/design excellence and durability that suits the natural attributes of the Haliburton Sculpture Forest and addresses the theme of Avian Fauna - birds of Haliburton Highlands region. The winning artist will be responsible for the cost of materials and transporting the sculpture to the site. The sculpture may be an existing work or a new work. The Sculpture Forest will pay up to $9,500 (plus HST if applicable) for the work. Sculpture is to be installed by June 15, 2012 Proposals must include a description of the sculpture, detailed drawings or a maquette (if it is a proposed new work), photographs (if it is an existing work), description of materials and installation method and five pictures of other recent work. www.haliburtonsculptureforest.ca Cover Thy Head, a juried exhibition of kippot The Morris and Sally Justein Heritage Museum at Baycrest invites eligible artists to submit an original kippah (yarmulke) to Cover Thy Head, a juried exhibition of kippot. Submissions will be accepted electronically; there is a $25 CAN application fee. Jury members from the Baycrest, art and museum communities will review submissions for possible inclusion in Cover Thy Head. Exhibiting artists will be eligible for cash prizes.
