"The Saving Bannister" 26th Annual Poetry Anthology Contest

The Niagara Branch of the Canadian Authors Association is holding its 26th Annual Poetry Anthology contest for residents of Ontario!

Entries must be in English, previously unpublished and not submitted for consideration elsewhere. Print should be black in 12pt Times New Roman on 8.5 x 11inch white bond paper, one side only, one poem per page. Line lengths exceeding 44 characters may be broken at the discretion of the committee. Poems over 65 lines in length (including spaces between stanzas) will not be accepted. Your name, address, telephone number and email address and titles of your poem(s) should appear on the cover page only. Number of entries is unlimited, but no more than six poems from one poet will be included in the anthology.

Include with your entry: (1) your poem(s) (2) a cover page (3) a cheque or money order: $15 for up to three poems and $4 for each additional poem, payable to Canadian Authors Association-Niagara Branch.

Mail your entry to Canadian Authors Association - Niagara Branch, Poetry Anthology contest, c/o 1457 Niagara Pkwy, Fort Erie, ON, L2A 5M4.

Please indicate where you heard about our contest (The Orillia & District Arts Council). Submissions will not be returned. However poets without internet access may include a SASE for replies. Only poets included in the anthology will be notified. Contest results will be posted on the website. By entering the contest, you agree to give the CAA-Niagara Branch first rights to publish your poem in "The Saving Bannister."

Short Story and Poetry Awards

The Mariposa Writers’ Group is seeking submissions for its annual Poetry and Short Story Competitions. The competition is designed to encourage and showcase new and emerging writers from “Lake Country” and entrants should be “commercially” unpublished. (ie you have not received pay for your writing) We are interested in real or fictional works, which evoke emotion and/or comment in some way on the human condition. Submission deadline July 15, 2011.

The National Bank Financial Group Awards (and cash prizes) for Short Stories and Poetry will be presented at the evening Gala, during the 7th annual Lake Country Literary Lapses Festival, on Friday, August 19, 2011, at the Leacock Home and Museum, in Orillia.

Images Thanksgiving Studio Tour

The Images Thanksgiving Studio Tour is an annual event, held in October, organized by a group of Simcoe County based artists and artisans.

Each year the Tour invites artists new to the tour to submit an application for jurying.
The Tour looks for artistic work of high quality and originality, in a diverse range of media.
