Artist Statement
I enjoy sharing my connection to nature and the impact many special places have on me. I like to travel through serene natural spaces to heal, grow, and enrich my life. I choose to document my time in nature by drawing and painting what I see and feel during these times. My work is personal and I'm sensitive to the things around me. I create art inspired by places that I've visited within Canada. My artwork is alive with vibrant colour and movement, which stimulates my senses. I try to have fun on my artistic journey, and share the curiosity and joy that I feel. Creating art relaxes and rejuvenates me, and helps me explore my deeper emotions, and I hope my artwork moves the viewer in this way as well.
Bio
Carolyn M. Boyd is a Canadian artist who lives in Barrie, Ontario. She primarily paints impressionistic landscapes, in acrylic on canvas. She also works in watercolour, graphite, coloured pencil, pastel, encaustic, oil, enamel, and mixed media. Carolyn studied privately under many professional artists, and at Seneca College and Georgian College. She has a certificate in the Fundamentals of Fine Art from North Light Art School. Carolyn has been painting professionally for many years, and teaches art classes. She had a fine arts gallery and studio in Hawkestone, Ontario; Bluehaven Art Studio. Carolyn's paintings have been exhibited in the Benefactor Art Exchange Show (MacLaren Art Centre), First Floor Gallery Plein Air Artists Show (Barrie City Hall), Featured Artist Show (Barrie Art Club), Annual Art Auction (Dundas Valley School of Art), and in various other galleries, events, and establishments. She's a member of the Art Gallery of Ontario, MacLaren Art Centre, Barrie Art Club, Artists in Canada, Quest Art & Gallery, McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Kawartha Art Gallery, and Orillia District & Arts Council, and Federation of Canadian Artists (Supporting Membership). Her drawings and paintings are in collections across Canada and internationally.
