You may have noticed that this web page has looked a little. . . neglected over the last few months. Unfortunately, we’ve had to some technical and logistical challenges, and for that we apologize.
Rest assured, thought, that the Arts Council has been busy! Over the last few months, board members and volunteers have:
- produced a new season of Arts Scene Orillia for Rogers TV, which launched in September 2013
- launched an incredibly successful local talent showcase and contest, LIMELIGHT Orillia (see our events page for details)
- established an active and informative social media presence on facebook and Twitter, promoting all manner of local arts events and stories
- collaborated with the City to apply to Business for the Arts, bringing $25 000 in ArtsVest incentive grants to 13 local arts and culture organizations
- continued our collaborative sponsorship of several programs, including Streets Alive, Blacklight Theatre and the Arts Awards
- consulted with local artists, arts organizations and arts patrons
- planned for an exciting and sustainable future in the form of a new Strategic Plan and Operational Plan
We have some great stuff planned for the near future, and we will be looking for volunteers. Keep an eye on this space for more information about our AGM, and our programs.
