Volunteer Opportunities

The Role of Volunteers at the Arts Council

Volunteerism is the life blood of the Orillia & District Arts Council.
At present we have one salaried employee. The rest of us are all volunteers.

We are a hands-on organization. If you decide to become an ODAC volunteer, you will find yourself doing any number of jobs: sitting on a committee to organizing an event or decide policy issues, helping to hang an art show, moving furniture, distributing posters, taking phone calls, manning the office or doing any of the other various tasks essential to running an organization which supports the arts.

In return you will get to meet and interact with other people involved in the arts in all of its disciplines and be part of the creative community in Orillia.
You will have a voice in determining the cultural focus of our organization and of the larger arts community and you will have the satisfaction of offering a worthwhile service to your fellow artists and to the community at large. You will also have a chance to explore your own creative potential.

Besides all this, you’ll have fun!

ODAC is on the move!
Come out and enjoy the experience of being part of a vibrant, committed grass roots organization.

Do you want to expand your skill-set while volunteering for an active arts-related non-profit? The Orillia and District Arts Council is looking for volunteers to help with a twice-monthly electronic newsletter. Basic word processing and email skills are required to gather relevant information from members and format it using an electronic newsletter service. This work can be done from your home computer.

The Orillia and District Arts Council is looking for someone to fill the position of Treasurer on its Board. This is a great opportunity to make a difference in the community by being part of this active, working Board. The Board meets once a month for approximately two hours.

Are you a whiz at brainstorming? Do you love meeting new people? Does the thought of planning, organizing and implementing a variety of fun and interesting fundraising strategies appeal to you? If you answered yes to any of these questions, the Fundraising Committee of the Orillia and District Arts Council is looking for you. This committee is just beginning so now is a great time to put all your great ideas to work!

Do you have a way with words? Are you the type that spots errors in newspapers and magazines? Are you looking to get some communications experience under your belt? The Orillia and District Arts Council is looking for active members for its new Communications Committee.
